If you happened to check out my last blog about when entrepreneurs should get a job, it hit home for a lot of people. I want to say times are hard but I would be lying as I really don’t believe they are. We are living in a time of opportunity! Understand this, I need every reader to internalize it…You are not limited to making money in 1 country!!! You are not restricted by 1 singular economy anymore! You do not need to save a million dollars to start a business! You can start creating revenue streams from your living room, you can start a business while working a 9-5!
I am trying to think to myself, which mountain and platforms I need to get on to shout these messages for people to get a clue and start going down the rabbit hole. Making money online is no longer a myth, at this point its negligence if you haven’t even Googled how to make money online.
I was doing some Googling myself and looking at some data to craft some of my content for the upcoming week. Two things that stood out was the volume of searches on Google for job hunting and also for how to start a job. Really, people are looking high and low for how to earn more money or get an extra revenue source. In 2019, you no longer need a salary, you need to have revenue streams.
Now we know every business needs money (this is actually kinda not true)…Let me clarify. There are many businesses you can start with ZERO money, what you will need money for is to grow the business and also to learn additional skills. All the skills I have learned (Web development, Content Creation, Social Media Marketing, Networking, Online Business), I have spent very little money. I did, however, spend hundreds of hours watching Youtube videos, reading articles and when I was able too, I bought a lot of books to continue my learning.
Which brings me to the point of this entire article…When is the best time to start a business? The answer is when you have a 9-5! The job could be KFC for all I care, at least you have some income coming in. Having that job you hate should definitely motivate you to get some skills that you can monetize to put yourself in a position to move on from the job.
Going from employee to entrepreneur is much easier than its ever been, I am not saying it is easy on the whole, but we have access to things we never had before. So here are the 3 things I believe you need to do to go from being an employee to an entrepreneur or have multiple streams of income while working that 9-5.

- Watch Youtube & Read Articles
- Find clients on social media platforms
Google In-demand skills
The first step is to start looking up what skills are currently in-demand. Honestly, when I ask people generally if they Google what skills are needed now, 9 out of 10 people say they don’t and those are the ones who are usually surprised when they can’t get into their fields or get laid off. When you Google in-demand skills, you will see all of the skills that are currently being heavily sought after globally.
Watch Youtube, Read Articles & Join Online Schools
You then want to jump on Youtube and start watching hours of videos and go down the rabbit hole of learning these skills. I cannot understate just how much knowledge you can get for free when you know where to look and it’s going to be crucial when starting out. Chances are if you are living paycheck to paycheck, you may not be able to afford to take those UWI or Roytec short courses you see. No worries, there are tons of sources to get you started on learning skills for cheap or for free.
Find Clients On Social Media
After you have started to learn the skill of your choice and you are ready to gain some experience. Jump on social media platforms and start searching for people who could use your services. Hit them up in the DM’s and offer your service for free. This will give you the necessary experience and you can start building your portfolio.
You will quickly realize what tweaks you need to make, you will gain much-needed experience to help you position yourself in the market and you will also have a portfolio to show potential clients that you can do the job you say you can do.
I know what you are saying…Keron, Stop talking shit! It’s not that simple to start a business and earn more money, this is why we are stuck in the rat race because you guys make this thing sound so easy.
Lol…Man…if you guys knew just how easy it is out here. I am up to 4 revenue streams myself and come August, for the first time since I began this journey, I can take a sigh of relief that the incomes will be steady and I have a much better idea of how to create revenue streams. I will finally be able to start taking some much needed online courses that I have been very interested in so I can continue honing in on my skillsets.
I would recommend that if you are working a 9-5, try and look at skills that you can generate revenue online and not have to physically be somewhere to execute the job. This will give you the freedom to work your 9-5 and not need to skip work or run somewhere to get it done. Trust me, the list is extensive. It’s easy to get started, it’s easy to learn the skills…You just need to want to learn them. Now the people who find success in creating additional revenue will be those who put in the work to be consistent and who push themselves to get creative in making a system that works for them.
The 4 revenue streams I have created for myself are Droid Island E-commerce, Social Media Management, The Keron Rose Workshops & now I am adding a 9-5. Ironically, the 9-5 job found me because of all the work I do on Linkedin and they thought I would be a great addition to their team.
So everyone, get started building that business while you have a job, if you play your cards right, you can easily make your KFC salary in a quarter of the time with some of these high-income skills.
